Conte expresses fresh fears over Morata

Chelsea’s manager  Antonio Conte says new Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata is yet to reach the fitness level required by the club.

According to Conte, the £65m summer signing from Real Madrid ‘needs to improve his fitness quickly’ and may have to sit out Sunday’s Community Shield fixture at Wembley against Arsenal.

Conte told The Sun: “Morata is just starting to train with us. He has to improve his condition a lot to adapt quickly into our team.

“He is working well but it has been only five days. Today, he tried to do his best but for sure he has to improve.”

The Spain striker sealed his club-record deal more than a week ago but was immediately whisked off to a pre-season tour of the Far East.

Before that Morata will likely get a run out in the Community Shield final against FA Cup winners Arsenal.
