Exactly a year ago today Adekunle Kosoko earned our respect as Mr gold for dropping one of the most anticipated albums 3 days behind the reported release date.
“Gold” housed previously released singles like “orente” and “sade” but the strength of those singles won’t stop the shine of the other songs on the album as everyone who got a chance to listen found a separate message to relate to.
Upon the release of the gold album, it peaked at #7 on theBillboard World Album Chart for the week of 13 August 2016, and helped us totally double crown adekunle gold as king of photoshop and king of “urban highlife”, his personal choice of what genre his music should be classified as.
The 16 track project had only female singer “simi” as a featured act on the album, she was featured on track 8 “no forget” and the album production was by Pheelz , Masterkraft, B Banks, Sleekamo, Oscar and Seyikeyz. It was relasead under Olamide’s YBNL Nation label.
Adekunle has since left the YBNL Nation, the label under which he presented the gold album to us on expiration of his contract and presented his band to us, “the 79th element” the name coined from the atomic number of the element gold.
My personal favourite song on the album is “orente”, what is your favourite?
